Property Tax Payments
The Tax Notices mailed to property owners have a printing error at the bottom of the page on the payment stubs. The colored headers for the First Payment and Full Payment were switched. The left-most stub should have been titled "FIRST HALF PAYMENT" and the right-most stub should have been "FULL PAYMENT". Otherwise, the payment stubs are correct.
Property taxes can be paid online. To confirm paid taxes, click "Make a Payment", then search by name or account number to see the payment details.

- Check Box 1 to make the 1st half payment (due February 28).
- Check Box 2 to make the 2nd half payment (due June 15).
- Check Box 3 to make the Full payment (due May 2).

Public Health Advisory: Jan 5, 2022
As of March 9, 2022, The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) classifies the level of community transmission in San Juan County, Colorado as MEDIUM. The incidence of COVID-19 has been rapidly declining in San Juan County (SJC). While COVID-19 is still considered a pandemic, San Juan County Public Health (SJCPH) is providing guidance for this stage of the incident. New variants of COVID-19 may spread and cause the need to implement prevention strategies. This advisory is being issued based on updated State and Federal guidance as of March 3, 2022. This advisory replaces all previously issued COVID-19 related advisories.
Layered prevention strategies including vaccination, wearing face coverings, physical distancing,holding social gatherings and conducting business outdoors instead of indoors, maximizing indoor ventilation, symptom screening, and hand hygiene are key to reducing the transmission of COVID-19. COVID-19 remains a mandatory reportable condition under Colorado communicable disease regulations.
Tourism Board Request for Proposals
The San Juan County Tourism Fund Board is requesting proposals from agencies or entities interested in contracting with the Board for the advertising and marketing of tourism for Silverton and San Juan County. It is anticipated that the total expenditures for the advertising and marketing of tourism shall not exceed $90,000.00 for the 2022-2023 budget year. Proposals should be submitted to the San Juan County Administrator located at 1557 Greene Street or may be mailed to PO Box 466, Silverton, CO 81433 or emailed to email@example.com. All proposals must be received by 4:00 P.M. Friday, June 3, 2022. For further information contact the County Administrator at 970-387-5766.
NOTICE: Gold King Mine Release/BPMD Proposed Settlement
GOLD KING MINE RELEASE IN SAN JUAN COUNTY, COLORADO ON AUGUST 5, 2015 (No. 1:18-md-02824-WJ).
The proposed agreement between the parties includes a $90,000,000 settlement.
The United States, Sunnyside Gold Corporation (“SGC”), Kinross Gold Corporation (“KGC”), and Kinross Gold U.S.A., Inc. are defendants in litigation which was centralized through the multidistrict litigation process in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico where the proposed final settlement has been lodged. The Proposed Settlement includes the following provisions:
Within 30 days after the Effective Date, Sunnyside Gold Corporation (“SGC”) will make payment in the amount of $40,950,000, which is to be deposited by EPA in the Special Account to be retained and used to conduct or finance response actions at or in connection with the Site, or to be transferred to appropriate federal accounts.
SGC will pay to the State $4,050,000 either: by official bank check made payable to
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and shall reference Bonita Peak Mining District – KGC / SGC; or by other means agreed to by the Settling Defendants and the State.
The United States, on behalf of Settling Federal Agencies, will make payment in the amount of $45,000,000 to appropriate federal accounts.
The United States will publish a notice of the proposed settlement in the Federal Register and solicit public comment for a period of 30 days.
It is anticipated more information concerning the settlement will be released later today and during the open comment period.
